Original > Brawl > Melee...Without a doubt. Original was better control. I'd say brawl's best, but it's online sucked. If N64's was online it woulda been the best game ever. Without a doubt.
That being said. Conker's Bad Fur Day on the N64 is also up there for best console game ever, so is Super Street Fighter 2 (wait...is that the right name...street fighter 2 turbo?)...Street Fighter 2 Turbo****, Final Fantasy VII, FFX, FFTactics....
I'd say Final Fantasy is the best game series ever, and not just because it's overrated, but because each installment is different from every other game, all of them are amazing in all ways. Remember first time playing FFVII? Oh my god amazing graphics! Then Final Fantasy X... I think it's graphics, on ps2, are very comparable to any non-final fantasy game on ps3. The storyline of each game is great too.

The original SSB was one of the best N64 games I've ever played, behind only Golden Eye
Used to play that on Nitendo 64 like all the time with my friends the Wii versions are fun too
Nothing beats golden eye. However Pikachu was an awesome character to use in SB
