[Suggestion] Staff Forum Channels Accessible to all GV members

Hello GV, I'm sending this message to all of the administrators and moderators of the forums. I have noticed that after I click on the "recent threads" tab on the GV home page, I notice thread topics that also concern every member of the vault. I would like to suggest allowing access to the staff forums to all members. My condition that I think would help keep members from clogging the forums, which I know are strictly business: Disable the comment/reply feature in these select forums for the non admin/mod members. The members would strictly be an audience. I know Arcanium is a very smart person when it comes to site creation and modification (not to say he's unintelligent by any means). This should be no problem for him to do. Please take my suggestion into consideration. Thank you for your time

I'm sorry, but I'ma have to shoot this down. The staff fourms is for STAFF only. Theres post in there, that Public users shouldn't see and shouldn't get involved in. Think about it thats why it's made a secret fourm to begin with.

I was wondering on if you could elaborate more on what it was that you saw that you felt concerned every member of GV that we did not post for all members to see? We work very hard to keep all our members informed of anything we feel is relevant to them and their gaming. Staff forums are used mostly to keep staff on the same page on issues affecting the server; as well as discuss situations that arise from time to time involving members. It would not be fair to members to have their issues aired in an open setting. In addition when we plan fun surprises they wouldn't be much of a surprise without a place to plan them would they ? I really don't see where this idea of yours would Improve GV but please feel free to elaborate on your reasoning behind this suggestion

it might be a possiblity, and yes i can make it reply only by staff. There are two issues that would need to be resolved without a doubt first but i will brng it up to staff for consideration

I find myself wanting to suggest the opposite solution. Shouldn't posts in Staff and other private forums be excluded from "New Posts" if you don't have access to the forum? As someone pointed out a few weeks ago, the forums aren't really as private as we think, because "New Posts" shows everyone the subject and the first sentence/paragraph (in the tooltip).

That, and who says regular members won't decide to suddenly start a new thread to discuss it?

You shouldn't be able to see it at all when clicking new posts. And i think it should be for STAFF only, the things discussed in there are not for everyone to see.

staff threads are staff threads... if you are not staff you should NEVER be able to read them.

The problem herein lies with exactly what magejag said. Anything that effects the site/irc they let us know about. But if we need to talk about... maybe a security flaw somewhere, the potential banning of a member, etc. There's just some things you don't want people to see that would be harmful for the site/irc itself.

Thats 1 of my theroys.

my other one is, What if we plan some big event in staff, and talk about suggestions for it amongst the staff. Since public users can see it that also means our enemies can see it as well such as ORG or NET, they might try and stop of from doing the event or copying it...
