IRC stands for Internet Relay Chat. As the name implies, it's where masses of people from all over the world can chat over the internet. It is a large network of networks, and GamersVault is just one place of many where you can go.
Methods of Getting on IRC
There are many different ways of getting on IRC. Some are super easy and some come with all kinds of bells and whistles.
The following are just 3 methods: Java Chat, Trillian, mIRC.
Java Chat- Click on "Java Chat" on GamersVault's navigation bar or right here.
 - You should end up here. You're now on IRC. Move onto the next section.
Trillian- Trillian is a convenient all-in-one instant messaging program that allows you to chat in AIM, ICQ, IRC, MSN, and Yahoo! without having multiple chat programs running. Get it here.
- Once you've started up Trillian, click: Trillian > Connections > Manage my Connections...
- Click on the button: Add a new connection
- Choose: IRC
 - Fill out the setup fields as follows:
Quote: - "Server Alias" can be any name for this connection (For example, GamersVault).
- Enter irc.gamersvault.net in the second field.
- For nickname, put in the nick you'd like to use on IRC. Just be sure it doesn't start with a number and has no spaces.
- Enter anything for "Username."
- For "User Info," put whatever you like. This info will show up whenever someone /whois you.
- Whatever you decide for a nickname or user info, make sure it's not offensive.
- Click "Automatically connect to this account at startup" if you want to connect to IRC everytime you open Trillian.
| - Once all fields are filled, click the "Connect" button and close the setup window.
- To see the IRC window, click the IRC icon on Trillian and choose "Show Status Window"
- You're now on IRC. Move onto the next section.
mIRC- Download and install mIRC if you haven't already. Get it here. It doesn't matter which location you download from. mIRC is free (even after 30 days). Just click "Continue."
- The following setup window should pop up when you open mIRC for the first time.
 - Fill out the fields as follows:
Quote: - "Full name" can be anything and shows up when someone /whois you.
- "Email address" can be anything and doesn't have to be your real email address.
- "Nickname" is your choice. Just be sure it doesn't start with a number and has no spaces.
- "Alternative" is an alternate nickname. This nickname will be used if the first one is in use.
- Whatever you decide for a nickname, alternative, or full name, make sure it's not offensive.
| - Once all fields are filled, click "OK"
- The window that is left is the status window. One status window will always be open.
- In the edit box, type and enter: /server irc.gamersvault.net
 II. I'm on IRC. Now What? Channel #gv-net
Notice you are now in the channel #gv-net. #gv-net is the default channel for GamersVault's IRC network.
The channel is for off-topic chatting, asking for help, etc.
Changing Your Nick
If you connected to IRC through Java Chat, this is a must. You may be currently using a randomly generated nickname starting with "Siteguest" followed by numbers.Registering
If you haven't registered yet for GamersVault's IRC, do so now. Most channels require you to be registered before you can enter. You still need to register for IRC even if you're registered for the website.- Type: /nick register PASSWORD EMAILADDRESS

PASSWORD can be any password. This is not for your D2, email, or forum password.
EMAILADDRESS can be any email address. While GamersVault does not currently require you to authenticate registration, you should preferably use a real email address in case you forget your IRC password.- If registration is completed, you will see "-NickServ- Nickname XXXXX registered." in your status window.
- If registration is not completing, make sure you did not enclose your password or email in quotation marks or brackets. If services are down, just sit tight and try again when they are back up.
| Identifing
Every time you connect to GamersVault's IRC, you must identify or login. Most channels require you to be registered and identified before you can enter. This way no one can steal your nick or impersonate you.- Type: /ns identify PASSWORD
Joining Channels
There are many channels you can join once registered/identified.- To see channels, type: /list
- To join a channel, type: /join #CHANNELNAME
- Popular channels: #uswest-dclone, #useast-dclone, #gv-proxies, #clonekiller
- To create a new channel, contact an admin to get authorization.
III. The Rules and Mission Statement of GamersVaultIn simplest terms...- GamersVault is a community made up of its members, including you.
- GamersVault is here for everyone's enjoyment. When a user's enjoyment conflicts with the community, what is better for the community as a whole is what matters most.
- GamersVault has become what it is by the constant dedication, hard work, generosity, and friendliness of its staff members and active members. (Not to mention $$, this stuff ain't free!)

- Demotions will result from any of the following reasons: by request, inactivity, lack of moderating channels, failure to follow rules and mission statement, inappropriate behavior, not contributing to improving/bettering GamersVault, etc.

Bot Commands
Type these commands in the Dclone Channel or to the Dclone Service Bot.
Some of these commands will only work when messaged to the bot.
Substitute "BOTNAME" for the bot in the channel. For example, /msg BOTNAME would be /msg Dclone-West
Amount of commands and command limits are determined by user access levels. For example, default for -top is 3 ips and -active is 3 hours.
All updates to the bot are spammed in channel. It is not necessary to repeatedly type -top, -hot, -active. Quote: -help This will show your access level to the bot and all your available commands.
-active This will show all the ip's that have gotten counts in the last 3 hours.
-hot This will show the hot ip's. Basically, it's the topic of the channel.
!search list This will show all the information saved for retrieval.
!search ITEMNAME This will retrieve information under the specified category.
-sellgame list This will show all the current sellgames, if any.
-top This will show the top ip's that have the highest "soj since last walk"
/msg BOTNAME -argh This is the gamble feature. Use this command once an hour for a chance to win. Prizes include nothing, kick from channel, forum doublouns, loss of forum doublouns, etc.
/msg BOTNAME -event IP This will show information for the D2 ip/server.
/msg BOTNAME -report count IP COUNT This is for reporting SOJ counts. All ops see these reports and will update the bot accordingly (when around). Note that in some circumstances, when there is a great difference in the reported count and the last count, a screenshot of the count would be appreciated. Go here to upload a screenshot. Thanks.
/msg BOTNAME -report walk IP COUNT This is for reporting dclone walks. *See -report count
/msg BOTNAME -sellgame add IP scnl|scl|hcnl|hcl norm|night|hell GAMENAME/PASSWORD This will add a sell game to the list. Make sure to specify the D2 core and difficulty.
/msg BOTNAME -sellgame del ID This will remove a sell game from the list. To determine the ID, use the -sellgame list command.

Got questions you need answered? Need help with: killing your dclone or ubers? xfering? enchant you? Or just need someone to talk to?
Just ask. There's always many helpful and active people in channel who can help you.
GV Clan
Channels: #gvd2clan #gvclan-east #gvclan-west- If you're in the GV clan, using IRC is one of the easiest ways to keep in touch with clanmates.
- Host of free grushes, free uber trist leveling, clan stash, and more.
Free Dclone Walks
Channels: #useast-dclone #uswest-dclone #east-free- These diablo clone walks are on IRC.
- Ip's are released in main dclone channels or a private channel. (If walk is run in private, the channel is closed once the walk starts. Usually, no late joiners are allowed.)
- If you find out the Ip, do not share it with anyone.
Join Coops
Channels: #coop #coop-east- Same as with Free Dclone Walks except every participant contributes 5 nl sojs (or equivalent amount of FD).

Automated Diablo Clonekiller
Channel: #clonekiller- To see a list of commands, type this command in channel: !killhelp
- Access is restricted to members who have been on GamersVault for some amount of time. This is only a precaution to keep out people who might abuse this service.
- To gain access, message Cluanar.
Free Giveaways
Channels: #useast-dclone #uswest-dclone #east-raffles #west-raffles #gv-raffles
Free D2 items, Free proxies for D2, Free Annihilus charms, and Free Forum Doubloons (Forum Currency)
These are given away in various methods:- Gamble feature -argh: Message the dclone bot once an hour
- Raffles : You MUST also be in channel #useast-dclone or #uswest-dclone if you join a raffle.
- Free4all: Walked dclone games are posted in channel for whoever is first. No use of clonekiller bot for these games.

Miscellaneous Info VI. Contributing to GamersVaultIf you haven't already, read section "III. The Rules and Mission Statement of GamersVault"
There are many ways in which to contribute. Here are just a few (in no particular order):
Help out other members- Give and take. You need help, then help out others as well.
- Don't pick on the new users, noobs, or uninitiated. We were all noobs at one time.
Help to monitor the channels- You do not have to have a symbol next to your name to follow rules or enforce them.
- Notify and let a staff member handle the situation, if any situation gets out of hand or you can not deal with another member without being rude or antagonistic.
Make use of the service bots- Type -help to see available bot commands.
- Report soj counts or dclone walks.
- Suggest information to be added that would be helpful.
Donate to GamersVault or Members- Personally, give away items to fellow members or GamersVault staff.
- Contact a staff member if you'd like them to run a raffle on your behalf.
- Join channel #clonekiller and donate unid anni's to the bot GV-Cloner.
- Host grushes or Contribute "bumpers" for grushes.
- Host or Contribute to free walks and or coops.
- Host baal runs.
- Host and or Hammer for ubertrist games.
Represent GamersVault & Recruit- Become GamersVault's spokeperson wherever you are. (Hopefully only for good!)
- Use accounts or names with the GV tag.
- Invite friends and people you know to GamersVault.
- Advertise us (wherever allowed) whether in signatures, avatars, etc. Be respectful of the rules of where you are and do not piss another community off with unwanted spam. (Don't get yourself banned!)
Feed the staff with your complaints and suggestions- Don't be afraid to be heard.
