LOTRO: Volume III Announced

In a move that's probably going to dash the hopes of those hoping to visit Rohan (at least for now), Turbine announced Volume III, Book 1: Oath of the Rangers late this afternoon.

You can see all the details released thus far HERE, but basically the epic storyline is going to shift back to the northern regions of the game for this volume. I'm particularly pleased to note that they're adding content to the Rift, which sort of got abandoned after MoM went live. I'm hoping this will also mean a return to Evendim, which still remains my favorite region of the game.

Of course, you can see all the window dressing regarding LI's and skirmishes...more interesting to me are the new recipes the press release refers to.

The Vault will keep an eye on all developments...stay tuned.

Update...servers are going offline on Monday, March 1 from 6-10 AM to install the patch. For those of you interested in such things, here are the PATCH NOTES.

Since the update is now live, I'm going to move this thread into the main LOTRO section.

Early impressions: I love it!

Particularly entertaining is the "Inspired Greatness" buff you get when soloing the epic quests that used to be undoable without a fellowship. My hunter's life shot up to 19K, and last night she plowed through Carn Dûm as if it were a swampful of Shire slugs.

I haven't done much of the Volume III stuff yet. After getting to the Caves of Laenan (where you begin gathering the Rangers) and seeing a slew of other players falling over each other to kill the Orcs there, I decided to let it be until the rush dies down and go work on unfinished Volume I quests.

Gonna spend some time on the burg today...I understand there's been some change to the hobbit running animation that's got a lot of players upset. Didn't notice it yesterday, but my mind is addled by cold medicine so I'm not exactly at the top of my game.

However, I plan to be around today. I got a nice snowy day here, no work until Friday. Looking forward to spending the time with my kinnies.
