Today we celebrate the birthday of GamersVault's top cat right here on our front page where she belongs. Since joining us the Vault's cosmic kitty has brought us to the forefront of D2 gaming sites at light speed. While a budding career in nursing has been keeping her busy of late, she still stops by every chance she gets. We who have been here from the start will tell you that there is not a single aspect of this network that has not benefitted from her loving, open-hearted touch. Look anywhere in the Vault, and you will see SpaceCat's legacy smiling back at you.

So let us take a moment to wish her a very happy day. Happy birthday, Spacekitty, and know that wherever your travels take you in this galaxy, we will keep the catnip mousie and ball of pink yarn at the ready always for when you come in for a landing!

Okay, so it's not really "news", we've expected this for a while. But today ArenaNet officially unveiled the Necromancer and told us a bit about his abilities, which really overshadow what he can do in game now:

A necromancer feeds on death and decay. Life force is the energy that a necromancer uses to extend his own life. Using specific skills, a necromancer builds up life force by attacking and killing enemies. Rather than going into a downed state when he runs out of health, a necromancer automatically activates the Death Shroud ability. A necromancer can continue fighting in the ghostly Death Shroud form until he either runs out of life force or he gets a kill, rallying back into his own corpse.

Necromancers have a unique set of special skills:

Wells—Wells are persistent spells that allow a necromancer to control the area around him. Created at the necromancer's location, wells affect targets within the skill's range. Well of Blood, for example, applies a regeneration boon to all allies within it. A necromancer can only have one well skill active at any time.

Minions—The necromancer summons undead minions to attack foes and do his bidding. Every minion-summoning spell has an associated secondary spell that appears after the minion has been summoned. This secondary spell destroys the minion while providing a powerful effect to the necromancer. For example, necromancers have a healing skill called Summon Blood Fiend that creates a minion that heals its master while it attacks. After the minion has been summoned, the Summon Blood Fiend skill is replaced by the skill Taste of Death, which allows a necromancer to destroy the minion to gain a larger amount of health.

Marks—Necromancers can also place marks--ground-targeted spells with a variety of potent effects. For instance, Mark of Blood damages enemies while placing a regeneration boon on nearby allies. Marks will trigger after a set period of time, but a necromancer can always trigger their marks on command by hitting the skill again.

Fear—Necromancers use a condition not available to any other profession: fear. A removable condition, fear makes an enemy flee directly away from a necromancer for a short period of time. For example, a necromancer can use Doom to instill fear in a single target.

And here is a Charr necro in action, utilizing the chilling power of summoned bone minions and putrid explosion:

Curiously, the necro appears to have his eyes binded in a manner similar to the Ritualist of Factions.

The Guardians of the Vault Lotro Kin is one of the larger kins on the Windfola server and with the "Free to Play" being released September 10th 2010 we expect to muster an undeniable force. With that in mind GotV Lotro members are preparing to assist those who choose to venture in to Middle Earth so there travels may be down smoother roads.

What does that mean for you Diablo members? Well you will have to see for yourself but I will tell you it is not at all like Diablo as you will earn your rewards. No grush/rush/power leveling Diablo style and speeds. Normally with a few hours of play a night you may be able to reach cap level in 2-3 months time but with planning, team work and assistance from our current Lotro crafting experts you may be able to reach cap level in a third of that time. But, that being said you will enjoy the game far more if you ignore the speed demon in us all and just enjoy the scenarios and content Middle Earth has to offer.

Members of GotV Lotro kin will soon put up some guides not only to help the new adventurers get started but also to help you learn some proper etiquette when playing an MMO as a member of GotV. You will soon find that a tighter relationship and comradery is developed not just within the kin but with the server as a whole.

We on the LOTRO GOTV kin look forward to adventuring with you all.

Lets get right to the new Artisian Crafting video....

Let's start at the beginning. Firstly, how and where do we access these Artisans. The Artisans in the game are found through the main quests of the game. As you venture through the areas, you will probably run into one who needs you to help them or save their lives. After helping them and gaining their trust, the Artisans will continue with you on your travels. Setting up shop at the nearest city, the player will be able to interact with the Artisans whenever they get a chance to go back to town.

The type of Artisans that will be available to our heroes.

    • The Black Smith - The featured Artisan from the video is the black smith. Acting as a place to repair and sell items, the black smith can also create weapons and armor for your character. He can also add sockets to any weapon or armor much like the quest reward from the Seige on Harrogath
    • The Mystic - This Artisan deals more with the magical side of crafting. The Mystic will be used to create potions, scrolls, magical weapons such as wands and staffs, spell runes, charms, and can enchant weapons and armors created by the Black Smith.
    • The Jeweler - This Artisan will create gems for you. You can also use the Jeweler to combine gems to create one of a higher quality which is the only way to get the highest quality gems. The Jeweler can also remove gems from items.
